About SpellingWords

SpellingWords.app is a free, browser-based K–5 spelling website for students, parents, and teachers. It brings together structured grade-level curriculum, clear spelling references, and calm interactive practice.

A place to focus on spelling

Spelling deserves a learning space of its own. SpellingWords helps children hear a word, think through its letters and patterns, type it, and check their work without timers, points, streaks, or a crowded game interface.

The site is intentionally not a general literacy platform. It does not try to replace reading instruction, writing instruction, or a school curriculum. Its job is narrower: to make useful K–5 spelling knowledge easier to find, understand, and practice.

Three ways to use SpellingWords

Practice your own words

Enter a school list or any words that need attention and begin a focused practice session.

Built for students and the adults who support them

Students can practice in a quiet interface with clear feedback. Parents can find an appropriate starting point without needing specialist terminology. Teachers and homeschool educators can use the grade and Skill architecture as a supplemental source of focused practice.

No account or login is required. That keeps the path from choosing words to practicing them short, especially when a child is using a shared or classroom device.

A spelling-specific curriculum

The grade curriculum brings together Core Spelling, High-Frequency Words, and Themed Spelling Practice. Separate Skill pages are grade-independent references for a particular pattern or concept. Educational usefulness matters more than publishing the largest possible collection of word pages.

Read Our Spelling Curriculum for the full parent- and teacher-friendly explanation of how the paths are organized and how content earns a place on the site.
