How to practice this list
Say a compound, ask your child to name its two smaller words, and spell each part separately. Then join the parts, reread the whole word, and check the meeting point.
A child may leave a space, drop a letter, or reverse the two parts. Acknowledge both words they identified, write a small divider between them, and have the child remove the divider only after both spellings are complete.
Move on when your child can identify both parts, spell them in order as one word, and use the two-part check to repair a space or missing letter.
