What to notice when spelling these words

Begin every day name with a capital letter

The first letter is part of each correct written spelling: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday all begin with a capital letter.

Keep the ending day stable

Every word in this set ends with the same three letters, day. After spelling the different beginning, add day and check that its vowel is written with a.

Learn the different beginnings

The beginnings Sun, Mon, and Fri are fairly easy to hear. In the longer names, keep the written chunks Tues, Wednes, Thurs, and Satur before adding day. Comparing these chunks helps prevent missing letters in the middle.

Notes for particular words

Wednesday

Keep the complete written beginning Wednes before adding day. Some letters in Wednes may not be heard clearly in everyday speech.
